The Indigenous Reconstruction OpenTour offers visitors to select National Parks in Mississippi, Florida, and Virginia the chance to see those sites from the point of view of Indigenous peoples. Native people fought and were impacted by the Civil War in these states; and they contributed to systems of education, agriculture, and tourism that built the modern American market economy. Throughout this dynamic time, they exercised mobility, developed their material culture, and preserved a broad range of traditional knowledge systems. This Open Tour site will offer visitors a new narrative of history at these places that emphasizes Indigenous persistence, rather than disappearance. </text>
